Winter Wonders: Stock Up
“Choose a hand cream with silicones and humectants that coats skin without leaving it slick, drippy, or sticky. Waldorf swears by Derma Topix Intensive Hand Cream: “I use it three times a day in the winter, and my hands don’t get dry, even though I’m washing them repeatedly.'”
Summer Skin Solutions
Sun Damage: Lighten Up “I like Topix Citrix® Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 30. It has zinc oxide and green tea; both are antiinflammatory, and neither causes breakouts.” – Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.
17 Bad Skin Habits
Using stuff that’s wrong for your skin type is a hugely common mistake, says Miami dermatologist Leslie Baumann, author of The Skin Type Solution (Bantam). Here’s what you should know: For sensitive skin, look for anti-aging creams with added hydrators such as hyaluronic acid, like Replenix® Serum CF.
It’s no secret, says Wechsler: “Moisturized skin looks younger.” To prevent dryness in the legs and other areas, use a milky, fragrancefree cleanser… and limit time in the shower. Wechsler also prescribes Topix Glycolix Elite Treatment Pads which are formulated for the face and body.
For dry skin and fine lines around the eyes dermatologists recommend using a lightweight eye cream that will keep skin hydrated without causing puffiness. (Wechsler’s favorites: the antioxidant-rich Replenix® Eye Repair Cream, or good old Vaseline – “just the tiniest bit on the lower lids,” she says.)
Green Tea has bragging rights to two top features: “It absorbs into the skin really well,” says Baumann and “of all the antioxidants, it is the most studied.” According to Baumann,
the Topix Replenix® line is the only one with a high enough concentration of green tea to benefit the skin.
